Project description 

Our project was to create an infographic about the biological needs of adolescence. We did this project in order to learn what teenagers and adolescents, around the world, are biologically and physically experiencing. I think it’s important to know what we actually need to survive/ thrive. Because without knowledge there is ignorance and ignorance isn’t always bliss. I also wanted to show my parents that playing sports during school isn’t inherently bad. When you try you can still succeed. 

 

My biggest challenge was not procrastinating. (for others it is probably something more noteworthy but this topic has plenty of info and such so ya I didn’t have any major problems) Normally I procrastinate like a monster but generally speaking I haven't done that so far in biology. Everything was done ahead of time.

 

Everything was done ahead of time and I think I was able to portray my info through pictures pretty well. I never used more than a sentence to explain every picture meaning that they were pretty good on their own. I had never done this before but now i would say that i'm not bad at it. On my first infographic (it was a bit rough to me but whatever) i got an almost perfect grade.

 

I Don’t really think that i would change anything with this one, however i would change my pictures in the first one. I was lazy and thought i would just combine my digital arts project with my biology project and it just didn’t turn out great. It was fitting but also a bit confusing if I could do it again I would probably just draw what I needed.

Project: Climate change

Global warming is the process in which the gasses that reflect heat back at the earth have increased leading to an increase in global temperature averages. This increase in heat is the cause of climate change, climate change is the process in which regional weather patterns specifically a region's temperature and precipitation, and natural seasonal changes, change. Seasonal changes can lengthen shorten or stop all together. Weather patterns can change, when affected you might notice you get rain when you should get snow or you get more extreme weather than is normal.

 

Climate changes have occurred since the earth began however we have sped up these natural processes through factories and burning fossil fuels. We have overwhelming evidence that our climate has changed and gone through periods of extreme hot and cold, like the Ice Age. However these transitions from hot to cold happened over long periods of time allowing the Earth's flora and fauna to adjust. We have sped this process up exponentially meaning that temperatures and climates change too quickly preventing our flora and fauna from adapting leading to the extension of many species sentient or otherwise. We should work towards not the prevention of this process but the slowing, if we can work to solve this problem enough to slow it down to normal speeds we can once again restore the balance to this process.

Our intent with our project was to make a synthetic tree that would process carbon at a faster rate than normal plants could to compensate for  the carbon we add to the natural processes. we were trying to demonstrate what we needed to do and for the why. we had an infographic demonstrating what the extra carbon does to humans and the earth. We made a blueprint for a tree that would pull carbon out of the air filter carbon dioxide and other air pollutants out of the air and output clean air. However after further research we learned that our project was too expensive and time consuming. So instead, we made our prototype and teach people about the truth of climate change through our infographic and verbal word. 

 

It is my belief this project helped me grow as a scientist, in the beginning. I had no idea what i was doing, however miss. Hott asked me how greenhouse gasses worked when i couldn’t answer she said go figure out and left me to my own devices, it a difficult process however it taught me how to actually learn from scientific texts and where the info actually is in a scientific text. I learned that a green house gas is any gas to absorbs and outputs energy on the thermal range.

 

I think that my greatest strength in this project was not just mine but our groups ability to adapt to everything we had to change to complete our project. We had many problems like the cost and design problems and had to change our project many times. However every time we where able to quickly adapt and do what needed to be done.
